Wilmette Sue Lott-Babbs Obituary (1947 - 2019)

Wilmette "Sue" L. Lott-Babbs, 72 of Taylorville passed away at 8:58 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 in her home. She was born on January 27, 1947 in Springfield, the daughter of Willard and Charlotte (Britz) Churchill. She married Virgil E. "Gene" Babbs on October 26, 2001 in Nashville, Tennessee. Sue worked for several years at C.A. Dawson Lumber in Springfield and later for the Illinois Secretary of State. Gene and Sue shared a love of building and built several homes together over the years. She is survived by her husband: Gene Babbs of Taylorville; son: Brian Lott (Kellie) of Springfield; step-sons: Terry Babbs (Danette) of Kincaid and Craig Babbs (Melissa) of Springfield; step-daughters: Vicki Spencer (Dave) of Ft. Myers, Florida, Kathy Bojarzin (Dave) of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and Jeanette Johnson (Derrick) of St. Charles; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 5 sisters; 3 brothers; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 sister. Sue will be cremated, and a graveside memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield with Robert Spencer officiating. Memorials may be left to the Christian County Senior Citizens. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
