Wilma B. Manahan (July 18, 1920 – April 29, 2025

Wilma B. Manahan, age 104, of Bloomington, formerly of Towanda, Illinois, peacefully passed away at 10:03 PM on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at her residence.

Wilma was born on July 18, 1920, in Colfax, Illinois, to Eugene and Mary Thompson Stinde. She married John Manahan on June 29, 1941, in Towanda, Illinois. John preceded her in death on September 22, 2010.

Wilma was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her five children: Don (Lola) Manahan of Mackinaw, IL; Jerry Manahan of Bloomington, IL; John Duwayne (Jean) Manahan of Bloomington, IL; Marilyn Franks of Hudson, IL; and Doris (Jim) Finnigan of Shirley, IL. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, with one more expected in July.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son David Manahan, and one great-great-granddaughter, and 5 sisters and 2 brothers.

Wilma was known for her loving spirit and her special molasses cookies, which she lovingly baked for her grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness. Wilma is the last of the “Stubborn Stinde Girl.”

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Tammy at OSF Peace Meal and especially to Joy and Allison with Synergy Health Care for their compassionate care.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Wiley Cemetery in Colfax, IL, with her son Donnie Manahan officiating. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM the same day at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington, IL, officiated by Mr. Joseph Blount with the Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness. The family will receive friends after the memorial service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to a church of your choice, OSF Peace Meal, or a charity of the donor’s preference.
