William H. "Whomp" Dalluge, Jr. Obituary (1927

William H. "Whomp" Dalluge Jr. 91 of Blue Mound passed away at 12:35 AM on August 18, 2019 at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur Illinois. Whomp was born December 3, 1927 in Decatur IL to William H. Dalluge Sr. and Clessie Colclasure Dalluge. He married Nelda Elizabeth May on December 4, 1948 in Blue Mound IL. Whomp was a US Army veteran serving in Korea. Whomp operated the Blue Mound Standard Station from 1960-1970 and co-owned the Blue Mound Furniture Store from 1970-1987. Whomp was a life-long member of the First Christian Church of Blue Mound IL and a member of the First Baptist Church of Stonington IL. He served as a Boy Scout Scoutmaster. After a stint as a member of the Blue Mound village board he served as village president from 1969-1973. He was a founding member of the Blue Mound Inter-Church Food Pantry and served as director from 1986-2014. He was elected Pleasant View Township Clerk in 1989 and was re-elected seven times before stepping down in 2018. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Nelda of Blue Mound, daughters Cheryl Reedy and Debra Belcher of New Fairfield CT and son Tom Dalluge (Martha) of Alpharetta GA. He is also survived by brother Gilbert Glen Dalluge (Arlone) of Decatur and sister Gladys Ellen True of Hickory Corners MI. Other survivors include six grandchildren Jason Reedy, Emily Reedy, Shawn Jenkins (Nicole), Brian Dalluge, Caroline Dalluge and Matthew Dalluge as well as three great grandchildren Brittany Jenkins, Michael Jenkins and Abigayle Jenkins and numerous nephews and nieces. The family would also like to recognize the tremendous support and love provided over the years by the Tom and Diana Ritter family. Whomp was preceded in death by his parents and his brother David Dean Dalluge, sisters in law Betty Dalluge and Takako Dalluge and brother in law Marshall True. A memorial service to celebrate Whomp's life will be held at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home 566 North Railroad Avenue in Blue Mound on Saturday August 24 at 2PM with the Revs. Dr. William Mitchell, Robert Clark and Gregory Mathias presiding. The family will welcome guests beginning at noon.
