William Bequette

William R. “Bill” Bequette 78, of Mt. Zion, IL passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL.

Bill was born October 8, 1947, in Red Bud, IL the son of Carl and Gladys (Weber) Bequette. Bill was a captain, pilot, and flight instructor in the United States Air Force before later working as a CPA and CFO. He married Cheryl Bailey on September 14, 1968.

Surviving is his wife: Cheryl of Mt. Zion, IL; daughter: Lindy Miller (Jason) of Mt. Zion, IL; son: Andrew Bequette (Julie) of Savoy, IL; sister: Karlene Feldker (Paul) of Waterloo, IL; brothers: Terry Bequette (Mary Tegel) of Exeter, NH and Tom Bequette (Sandy) of Waterloo, IL; grandchildren: Avery Bequette, Caroline Bequette, AJ Miller and Lucy Miller. He is also survived by his father-in-law: Jim Bailey of Danville, IL and his brothers in law: Terry Bailey (Debbie) of Cincinnati, OH and Jim Bailey (Kathy) of Danville, IL. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law: Jean Bailey.

In keeping with Bill’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Calvert & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family suggest memorials be made in Bill’s memory to The Baby Fold, c/o Development and Public Relations, 108 E.
