Wilbur L. Metzger

Wilbur L. Metzger, 85, of Pana, passed away Monday, September 23, 2019 in Heritage Health--Pana. He was born April 28, 1934 in Pana, son of the late William & Marguarete (Brown) Metzger.
Wilbur was a graduate of Pana High School before serving his country in the U.S. Army. He was retired from the maintenance department with Pana Schools. He was also a wonderful carpenter and loved woodworking. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana, Pana Knights of Columbus and Pana Country Club Golden Oldies.
Wilbur married Doris Mizeur on December 28, 1958 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana and she survives in Pana, along with their children: Jackie (David) Gerse, Bettendorf, IA and Kent (Teresa) Metzger, Gays, IL; grandchildren: Morgan (Chase) Ketchum, Colin Gerse, Lauren (Brock) Norris, Ross Metzger; great grandchildren: Owen Ketchum & Carter Ketchum and brothers: Gene Metzger & Roger (Claudia) Metzger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Robert Metzger & Doris Barding.
Funeral services for Wilbur will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney A. Schwartz officiating. Visitation will be Friday, September 27, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond with military rites by Pana Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorials in Wilbur's honor may be made to the St. Patrick's Catholic Church or Sacred Heart School and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
