Wilbur E. Leighs

Wilbur E. Leighs, 82, of Taylorville, IL died at 12:40 pm Sunday, December 5, 2004, Taylorville, IL. He was born September 9, 1922 in Hillsboro, IL the son of William J. and Eva Marfell Leighs. On June 16, 1955 he married Annabelle Kuhl in Irving, IL. Mr. Leighs was a member the United Methodist Church, was a Life member of Mound Lodge #122 A.F.&A.M., Taylorville and Ansar Shrine, and was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was the co-owner of Model Laundry and Dry Cleaners and retired in 1991 from Peabody Coal Company Mine #10.

Surviving is his wife, Annabelle of Taylorville, IL; Daughter, Jana Cain of Blue Mound, IL and Son William A. Leighs of Bluff City, TN. 7 Grandchildren: Bradley Pope, Adam Pope, Lacey Pope, Andy Leighs, Cameron Leighs, Dylan Cain and Wyatt Cain. 1 Great Granddaughter, Zoe Pope. Brother: Bob Leighs of Witt, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 8, 2004 in McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville, IL with Rev. Bill Frazier officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at McClure Funeral Home. There will be Masonic Rites at 7:00 pm.
