Wendell Perry

Wendell O. Perry 85, of Mt. Zion, IL passed away at 6:50 p.m., Friday October 3, 2025, in Imboden Creek Living Center.

A memorial service to honor Wendell’s life will be held at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Calvert & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Macon County Conservation District. Wendell was born August 14, 1940 in Shelbyville, IL the son of Benjamin and Opal Perry. He had worked as an Iron Worker from the Ironworker’s Local #380. Wendell married Linda L. (Stevens) Schmeling on July 29, 2022. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving is his wife: Linda Schmeling-Perry of Mt. Zion; sons: Michael Martin (Sherry) of Ottawa, IL, David Martin of Sanford, FL, and Steven D. Schmeling (Dawnell) of Stevensville, MI; brother: Dwight Perry (Lonni) of Mattoon, IL; sister: Jeannine Ericsson of Lincolnwood, IL; grandchildren: Morgan Hernandez (Daniel) of Stevensville, MI, Emily Schmeling of Stevensville, IL and Steven J “Jake” Schmeling of Stevensville, MI; great-grandchildren: Penelope, Myla, and Ellie.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents and step-daughter: Lori A. Horne.
