Wayne A. James Obituary (1946

Wayne A. James, 77 of Heyworth, IL passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, Illinois. A Graveside service will be held at 12noon on Monday, August 12, 2024 at Heyworth Cemetery, Heyworth, Illinois, followed with a visitation from 4-6pm at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home and a celebration of life service at 6pm with Pastor Dennis Skinner officiating. Wayne was born in West Helena, Arkansas on September 19, 1946, the son of Charles M. and Helen L. (Cusey) James. Wayne married Madeleine Stengel and later married Sue Westerfield. He is survived by his children: Troy James; Pamela Kooi; and Jodie (Jaime) James all of Bloomington. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Brittany (Carlos Moreno) Kooi, Elliott (Brenda Osorio Guzman) Kooi, and Samuel Goodman; along with his brothers: Mike (Denise) James, Alexandria, VA and Clayton (Gwen) James, Downs, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Chauncey James and a half brother, Steve Kennel. He is a graduate of Bloomington High School class of 1965. He worked for Eureka Williams and retired after 31 ½ years. Wayne was an avid Green Bay Packers fan; he enjoyed watching NASCAR and loved doing outdoor activities. Wayne will be missed deeply by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. The family suggest memorials to be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois, American Heart and Lung Association, Bloomington VFW Post 454 or to the American Red Cross.
