Waneta Weller

Waneta Eileen Weller, 54, of Thayer, IL, passed away Monday, December 15, 2025 at her residence. Waneta was born August 30, 1971, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Edward and Eileen VanHuss Elston. She married Timothy “Tim” Weller at Prairie Temple Assembly of God in Virden, IL on September 6, 1997.

Surviving are her husband of 28 years, Tim Weller of Thayer, IL; their children, Carly Weller of Thayer, IL, Ruth Weller of Rochester, WA, and Joseph Weller of Thayer, IL; her siblings, Eddie Elston of Virden, IL, Linda (Al) Boesdorfer of Atwater, IL, and Mike Elston of Virden, IL, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Scottie Elston and Tim Elston.

Waneta graduated from Virden High School, class of 1990. She worked for Di Carlo’s Pizza and worked for several years as a circulation specialist for the Virden Recorder. She was a lifelong, faithful member of Prairie Temple Assembly of God. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting, and singing.

Family will receive friends for visitation Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Prairie Temple Assembly of God in Virden, IL. A funeral service will follow the visitation with Rev Mark Connour officiating at the church. Burial will follow services at Virden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prairie Temple Assembly of God, 18700 St. Route 4, Virden, IL. 62690.
