Walter P. "Putt" Scott Obituary (1925 - 2018)

Walter P. "Putt" Scott, 93, of Shelbyville passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 at his home. He was born February 10, 1925 in Pana to the late Absolam & Myra (Puttnam) Scott. Walter was a graduate of Rosamond High School, Class of 1942. He then served in the U.S. Navy, where he was a mechanic. Walter retired from the rock quarry in Nokomis. He also farmed and had worked as an EMT and ambulance driver. He was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Shelbyville and American Legion. Walter enjoyed reading, eating and watching tv. He was an avid horse man and loved sulky races. Walter had a heart of gold; always kind and would do anything for anyone. He was a god-fearing man. Walter Scott married Normagene A. Cooper on November 21, 1987 in Nokomis and she preceded him on February 17, 2009. He is survived by children: Roger (Sandy) Goodwin, Shelbyville, IL; Pat (David) Rodman, Findlay, IL; Frank (Mona) Goodwin, Ft. Myers, FL; Barb Garner (Rusty Hill), Kincaid, IL; grandchildren: Timm Rodman, Krysie Williams, Karlee Herzog, Kira Herzog, Michael Shane Goodwin, J.R. Goodwin, Billy Goodwin, Bonnie Goodwin, Jamie Johnson, Amber Walker; and many great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, Don Goodwin; brothers: Jack Scott & Bill Scott; and sisters: Margerie Johnson & Emma Fisher. Funeral services for Walter will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery with graveside military rites by Pana Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home. Memorials in Walter's honor may be made to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1201 N.
