Walter "Eric" Armstrong Obituary (1958

Walter "Eric" Armstrong, 65, of Foley, Alabama, formerly of Pana passed away Tuesday, July 11th, 2023, in his home. Eric was born in Pana, IL, on June 21, 1958. He was the son of Jack and Viola (Wirey) Armstrong. Eric was a graduate of Pana High School, class of 1976 and worked at GSI for 30+ years. After retiring from GSI, Eric relocated to Alabama to live out his dream of living by the beach. He enjoyed all things water-related. Eric was a lifelong Cardinal baseball fan, enjoyed riding his Harley, and golfing regularly and had 5 hole in ones. Eric married Cheryl Tucker Thomas in 1987 and she survives in Foley, AL. They enjoyed many years of concerts, golf, and fun. Typically, you wouldn't see one without the other. Eric leaves behind his wife, Cheryl; children, Erica (Sean) Linn, Pana, Illinois and Chad (Danessa) Armstrong, Vandalia, Illinois; 7 grandchildren, Brody, Brittany, Jack, Savannah, Ace, Gemma, and Elynn; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Jacalyn Seitz; brother, Kurt Armstrong; and many nieces and nephews. Eric was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Vi, and by his sister, Viky Maton. Memorial donations may be given in Eric's name to Donate Life and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family. Memorial services for Eric will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home with Pastor Leon Goff officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home.
