Violette M. Kaisershot

Violette M. Kaisershot, 78, of Normal, passed away at 8:56 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Heritage Health, Normal. Her funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2016 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Normal with Rev. Eric S. Powell officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington with a rosary service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Gift of Life Transplant House, 705 Second Street SW, Rochester, MN 55902. She was born July 30, 1937 in Hettinger County, North Dakota, the daughter of Nicholas and Helena Mayer. She married Dr. Alfred L. Kaisershot on August 20, 1956 in Lefor, ND. He preceded her in death on December 19, 2015. She is survived by six children, A. Kevin (Jamie) Kaisershot of Aurora, Tami (John) LeClaire of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kyle (Mary) Kaisershot of Northglenn, CO, Kent (Jami) Kaisershot of Morton, Kenley (Lori) Kaisershot of Normal and Tara (Chad) Bahnks of Knoxville; 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way; and a brother, Harvey (Sherran) Mayer. She was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Schorsch; and a brother, Wilbert Mayer. Violette was a long-time teacher who taught for many years in North Dakota, Montana and Nebraska until moving to Illinois in 1970. She retired from the Olympia School District. A long-time member of Epiphany Catholic Church in Normal, Violette actively sang in the choir and devoted her time to the Altar and Rosary Society. She also enjoyed the time she spent performing with the Sweet Adelines.
