Vernon E. Peek

Vernon E. Peek, 93 of Bloomington was promoted to heaven on Tuesday December 18, 2018 at 7:07 AM at Heritage Health in Normal.
There will be a funeral service for Vernon on Friday December 21, 2018 at 1 PM at Grace Church in Normal. Pastor Len Thebarge will officiate. Visitation will be from 11-1 Friday at the church. Interment will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington.
Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington is handling arrangements.
Vernon was born May 17, 1925 in Bloomington to Asa John and Mary Lou Parido Peek. He married Barbara Carr 72 years ago in Bloomington on June 22, 1946. She survives.
Also surviving are his three children, Vici (Keith) Forsyth of Bloomington, Rick (Marty) Peek of Normal, John Peek of Burbank, Washington, four grandchildren, Amy (Pancho) Henderson, Julie (Jim) Anderson, Chad Peek and John Peek, two step-grandchildren Julie (Adam) Stone and Scott Ehler, and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister in law Shirley Peek. Vernon was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
He was a charter member of Grace Church in Normal where he served in many capacities. Vernon worked 45 years for Eureka Company in Bloomington, retiring in 1987. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Vernon was a faithful husband, dad and grandpa and a friend and servant to many.
