Vernon L. Benson

Vernon L. Benson, 76 of Pana passed away Monday, October 26, 2020 in his home. He was born September 23, 1944 in Paxton, IL, son of the late Vernon C. & Frances (Crozier) Benson. Vernon was a graduate of Paxton High School. He was a truck driver and enjoyed Nascar, football, and baseball.
Vernon married Cherry Bonheart on October 2, 1976 and they later divorced. He is survived by his children: Cristina (Scott) Eilers, Tower Hill, IL & Amanda Brown, Decatur, IL; grandchildren: Mackenzie Eilers, Tabitha Dyer, Madison Eilers, Terence Hays, Breanna Benson, & Brycen Brown; and sister, Linda Parker. Along with his parents Vernon was preceded in death by his brothers Larry Benson & Lester Benson.
A visitation for Vernon will be held Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home. Per Vernon's wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorials in Vernon's honor may be made to the donor's choice and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
