Valera I. Sckowska

Valera I. Sckowska, 91, of Stonington, IL died at 8:25 pm Saturday, April 12, 2003 at her residence. She was born May 25, 1911 in Pleasant View Township, the daughter of James and Lena Goldenstein Armstrong. On February 14, 1935 she married Paul J. Sckowska in Springfield, IL and he preceded in death on July 12, 1985.

Mrs. Sckowska was a member of Stonington Chapter #938 Order of Eastern Star, a nd the Stonington Women's Club. She and her husband Paul were instrumental in establishing and running a Christian County landmark, the Paublo Ag Museum.

Surviving is one brother, John Armstrong and wife Ruth of Blue Mound, IL and special friends, Mary Stolte, Marie Scales, Jammie Moore, Rita Morgan and Judy Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Mildred Brown.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April16, 2003 in McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville, IL. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery, Blue Mound, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service.

Memorials may be made to Paublo Ag Museum or Bethel United Methodist Church.
