Tod W. Berger Obituary (1961

Tod William Berger, 63, of Lake Wildwood, Varna, passed away Monday December 2, 2024, 5:10 pm at Jevon Bea Hospital, Rockford. Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held Sunday, December 22, 2024, at First Chrisitan Church, 407 Market St. Henry from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Memorial services will be held Monday, 10:00 am at the church. The Rev. Dr. Beth Rupe will officiate. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association, American Stroke Association, or to Gift of Hope. Tod was born June 3, 1961, in Centralia, IL to William and Margerat Sue (Garren) Berger. He married Nancy Golden on June 20, 1987, in Peoria, IL. She survives. Also surviving are his children, Ashley Marie Berger, of Janesville, WI, and Joseph Tod (Rachel) Berger, of Putnam, and one grandson Rowan Tod McLennan, one sister, Lori Beals, of Effingham, and one brother, Michael (Rebekah) Berger, of Taylorville. His parents preceded him in death. Tod graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Eureka College. He was a teacher for many years at Henry-Senachwine Schools, teaching junior high physical education. He also coached Junior high basketball, junior and high school baseball, and was an assistant coach for high school softball. He was a member of First Christian Church, where he served as deacon, chairman of the deacons, and a board member. He was a member of the retired teacher association. Tod will be remembered for his love of fishing, playing golf, boating, camping trips, reading, and watching sports on TV. He will be missed.
