Thomas William McGowan, 81, of Paducah, formerly of Bloomington, died at 2:50 a.m., Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Parkview Nursing Home in Paducah.His funeral will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at St. Marys Catholic Church, Bloomington with Rev. Ric Schneider officiating. Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington.Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.Thomas was born on September 7, 1933 in Colfax, the son of Thomas M. and Gladys M. Phillips McGowan.Survivors include three brothers, Patrick McGowan and Ralph McGowan, both of Bloomington and Michael (Evelyn) McGowan of Paducah, KY; three sisters-in-law, Judy McGowan and Gloria McGowan, both of Normal and Barbara McGowan of Indiana; a brother-in-law, Donald Wollenschlager of Bloomington; and many nieces and newphews.He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Cyril, Paul, Jack and Cecil "Ed" McGowan and three sisters, Adah Mary McGrew, Madonna Gardner and Betty Ann Wollenschlager.Thomas graduated from Trinity High School in 1953 and worked for General Electric for thirty-five years, retiring in 1991.
