Thomas McGrath

Thomas Roscoe McGrath Jr. 75, of Decatur, IL passed away at 9:45 a.m., Sunday. November 30, 2025, in the Loft of Rock Springs, Decatur.

A service to honor Tom’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Calvert & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion, IL. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 12:00 Noon until service time. Burial will follow at Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Messages of condolence may be shared with the family at Calvertmemorial.com.

Tom was born March 2, 1950, in Omaha, NB the son of Thomas R. and Irene Bessie Leota (Christison) McGrath Sr. He married Vicki S. Peifer on July 5, 1985. Tom retired from the N & S Railroad having been the Yard Master for the railroad. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting. Tom also truly enjoyed going on vacations with his children.

Surviving is his wife: Vicki of Decatur; sons: Tom McGrath III of Bloomington, Jason McGrath (Donna Tilton) of Decatur and Joshua McGrath (Jennifer) of Maroa, IL; daughter: Holly Malin (Joseph) of Troy, IL; sisters: Cheryl Mills (David) of Decatur and Marla Scales (Richard) of Oakley; grandchildren: Jessica, Lily, Matthew, Willow, Stella, and Owen; many nieces and nephews also survive.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his sister: Carla McGrath.
