Thomas E. Mayes, Jr. 63, of Taylorville, IL died at 2:00 am, Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL. He was born December 1, 1950, the son of Thomas E. and Doris E. McIntosh Mayes, Sr. On August 1, 1970 he married Sally Jean Bishop in Taylorville. Mr. Mayes had been employed by G.S.I. for over 25 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed fishing and loved to spend time with his family. Surviving are his wife: Sally Mayes of Taylorville; Children: Bette Wickell and husband Brad of Millstadt, Thomas E. Mayes, III of Taylorville, and Angel Nolen and husband Bret of Bethany; 3 Grandchildren: Brandon Finn, Bradly Dilley, and William Nolen. There are several Brothers and Sisters including: Timothy Mayes and wife Theresa of Taylorville, Ted Mayes of Springfield, Connie Parks and husband Fred of Taylorville, and Bonnie Dollar and husband Jerry of Peoria. There are also several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins surviving. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Dixie Mayes. A Celebration of Life Memorial Dinner will be held at the Manner's Park Pavilion on Sunday, September 28 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. All Family and friends are invited to attend.
