Thomas Arnold Herman, Sr. Obituary (1926

Thomas Arnold Herman, Sr., 82, of Taylorville, IL died at 2:15 am Thursday, May 29, 2008 at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL. He was born January 2, 1926 in Booneville, Indiana, the son of Arnold and Viola Gibson Herman. He married Vernie Rogers on May 4, 1948 at Davis Memorial Christian Church in Taylorville. Mr. Herman was a retired mine superintendent at Peabody Mine #10, a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, member of U.M.W.A Local 9819, the National Mine Rescue Association, V.F.W. Post 4495 and American Legion Post 73 both of Taylorville. Surviving are his wife: Vernie of Taylorville; Children: Connie Havener and husband Richard, Thomas A. Herman II and wife Lucille, Mark L. Herman, and Brian C. Herman and companion Tina Scallions all of Taylorville. Brother: Bill Herman and wife Betty of Taylorville. There are 13 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. There will be a celebration of Tom's life held at a later date. Memorials may be made to: American Cancer Society, 675 E. Linton Ave., Springfield, IL 62703.
