Terry Buchanan

Terry F. Buchanan, 83, of St. Elmo passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026 in Haven of St. Elmo, IL. He was born March 4, 1942 in Havana, IL, son of the late Frank & Arah (Hawk) Buchanan. Terry served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Shriner’s & Masonic Lodge. He worked for Horace Mann Insurance for 33 years and enjoyed fishing and volunteering for the Shriner’s.
Terry is survived by his daughter, Candy (Jason) Prose. Quincy, IL; grandchildren: Kairei Hughes, Devin Prose (fiancée, Sydney Norris); great grandchildren: Deklan Prose, Jayce Durbin, Kameron Hughes; brother, David (Bobbie) Buchanan; nieces & nephews: Sara, Connor, Izzy, Diana (Robert) Williams and great nieces & nephews: Heather, Tiffany (Nate), Oliver, Lincoln, Wes, Lane & Jordan. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Keirsty Hughes & twin brother, Gary Buchanan.
Per Terry’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no services are planned.
Memorials in Terry’s honor may be made to the Vietnam Veteran Foundation or Shriner’s Hospital for Children and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
