Terrence "Terry" J. Corrigan Obituary (1949

Terrence J. Corrigan, age 75, of Pontiac, IL, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 3:51 p.m. at his residence. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home. In honor of Terry’s love for sports, casual attire and sports jerseys are encouraged. A rosary will take place immediately following the visitation. Cremation rites will follow. A private family inurnment will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date. A celebration of life will also be held at a later date at Bob and Ringo’s. Memorials in Terrence’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School, American Red Cross, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Terrence was born on June 29, 1949, in Pontiac, IL, to John J. and Helen L. (Kerrins) Corrigan. Survivors include his son: Cody (Amy) Corrigan of Pontiac, IL; grandchildren: Cameran, Tyler, Emma, Leah, and Sophia; siblings: Mike (Lyn) Corrigan of Normal, IL, Patrick “Jr.” (Fiancé, Sue Wright) Corrigan of Pontiac, IL, Jack Corrigan of Pontiac, IL, and Keran Johnson of Pontiac, IL. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother: Kevin Corrigan. Terrence graduated from Pontiac Township High School. He proudly served in the United States National Guard. He then worked for over 50 years as a Union Bricklayer. He also was a part owner of Bob and Ringo’s in Pontiac for many years. He was a devoted and faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pontiac. Terrence loved Chicago sports. You could always find him watching the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and the Chicago Blackhawks. He was also an avid Notre Dame Football fan as well as a Jeopardy fanatic. He enjoyed all night games of Scrabble with friends and family, Cash Cab, and Wheel of Fortune. He was also quite the wordsmith. He was also very proud to be Irish and a democrat. Terrence had a quick wit about him and enjoyed being a jokester. Terrence loved being with his friends and family and spending his days with them. He truly was the best dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend that you could ever ask for. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. With Terry being well known for his jokes, it only feels appropriate to leave you with one of his favorites: Terry could be seen standing and talking with St. Michael behind St. Peter at the pearly gates. St. Peter thought he overheard his name a few times. As he cocked his head to hear what was being said, Terry could be overheard saying "so I was in the shade under a tree with my Zebco 808. I have it chambered with a 15 lb test line. I'm using a silver spinner bait because those hungry crappie really love those more than live bait. I always give the line a little tug, makes the light reflect off those silver spinner blades." St. Peter slowly turned back to focus on what he was doing. Faintly in the background a soft voice could be saying to St. Michael, "Peter's wings are some of the smallest mangiest I've ever seen and the robe looks second hand.... then something could be heard a little louder, Sooo anyway I must have pulled about 20 crappie out the water that day."
