Steven L. "Cheese Shark" Sharp Obituary (1952

Stephen L. “Cheese Shark” Sharp, 73, of Virden IL, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Stephen was born September 7, 1952, in Springfield, IL, the son of William E. and Beverly (Schartigar) Sharp. He married Jill Elvers on November 20, 1971, in Virden. Surviving are his wife, Jill Sharp of Virden, IL; his daughter, Tina Sharp of Auburn, IL; his grandson, Tanner (Rebecca) Elliott of Palmyra, IL; his great-granddaughter, Hale Elliott, his brothers, Lou (Janet) Sharp of Warrensburg, MO; Chuck (Theresa) Sharp of Springfield, IL and Paul (Beth) Sharp of Springfield, IL; and his sister, Jill (Bruce) Fairfull of Virden, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, William R. Sharp; and his sister, Debbie Hatalla. Stephen graduated from Virden High School, class of 1970. After high school, he was drafted in the United States Army serving his country from 1973-1978. He worked several jobs after the military including Fiat-Allis, Harsco and Henry Technologies. He enjoyed camping out on the lake in Girard, going on rides in his corvettes, and riding motorcycles. Per Stephen’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded by Airsman & Calvert Funeral Home in Virden, IL. No services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
