Steven J. Miles

Steven J. Miles, 67, of Cooksville, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2017 at his home. His funeral will be noon Friday, January 6, 2017 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois. He was born September 29, 1949 in New Albany, Indiana, a son of Melvin J. and Velma Shepherd Miles. He married JoAnn Bounds on December 26, 1970 in Forrest. Surviving are his wife of Cooksville; a son, Steven Shane Miles of Bloomington; two brothers, William Joseph (Nancy) Miles of Normal and Charles (Mary Beth) Ettien of Bloomington; and Brad Roberts, who was considered a son to Steve and JoAnn. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tammy Jo Miles; and a brother, Jerry Miles. Steve was veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam with the 1st Infantry Division, also known as the Big Red One. He was a member of Laborers Local #362 and was the owner of Miles Motors. Steve had a profound passion for muscle cars and also loved hunting, fishing and his pets.
