Steven Alan Steele, 73, of Lacon, passed away Tuesday October 27, 2026, 11:47 pm at Carle Methodist Hospital, Peoria.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Henry Park District. Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home, Henry is in charge of arrangements.
Steven was born July 17, 1953, in Spring Valley, IL to Eugene and Marian (McDowell) Steele.
His stepparents are Sheilah Steele, surviving and Wayne McDowell, preceded in death. Steven married Deborah Klein on April 28, 1983 in Lacon, IL. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are his children, Heather Steele, Putnam, Meleia (Chris) Cheney, of Henry and Nathan Steele, of Sparland, eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
His siblings, Debbie Glisan, Larry Steele Dan (Bobette) Steele, Joanie (Kerry) Barnes, Lisa (Glenn) Allen. His brother, Randy Longman, preceded him in death.
Steven started his working career as deck hand later becoming a river boat pilot. He worked for Mid-West Materials, Trumble River Service and also Wolf Marine, in Hennepin.
Steven enjoyed hunting and fishing and gardening. He played the guitar and drums, playing in a area band.
