Stephen Wayne DuPriest

Stephen Wayne DuPriest, 58, of Bloomington, passed away at 9:24 a.m., Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.His memorial visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, September 29, 2014 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Interment will be private.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Cherokee Nation Foundation or the Humane Society of Central Illinois.Steve was born on December 13, 1955 in New York City, New York, the son of Willie Mack and Wilma Reef DuPriest, Jr. He married Nancy Gregg on May 23, 2014 in Bloomington. She survives.He is also survived by his mother, Wilma DuPriest of Champaign; one daughter, Jodi and her son, Sebastian; one step-daughter, Grace Lukoskie; one sister, Verna (Bobby) Stucker of Greeneville, SC; one brother, Willie Mack (Christine) DuPriest, III of Huntersville, NC and his beloved K-9 companion, Abbey.He was preceded in death by his father.Steve was a 1974 graduate of Rantoul High School where he still holds several track and field records and was voted Homecoming King. He worked many years in retail. Steve enjoyed many things, including country music, the Chicago Bears, Illini Football, cooking, gardening, reading, playing the guitar and the Peanuts comic strip. He also loved fall, being on or near the water, log cabins and the Smokey Mountains. Steve was very proud of his Cherokee Heritage.
