Stanley "Stan" Bauer Obituary (1949 - 2024)

Stanley Keith “Stan” Bauer, 75, of Ellsworth went to be in the presence of Christ on Monday January 15, 2024, at his home in Ellsworth. The family will celebrate Stan’s life at East White Oak Bible Church on Thursday June 27, 2024. Visitation will be from 9-11:15 AM, a military tribute from 11:15 AM to 11:30 AM and the memorial service from 11:30 AM-12:30 PM. Pastor Scott Boerckel will officiate. Stan was a man who deeply loved Jesus, his family, and his friends. He showed his love by hosting gatherings in his home and enjoyed cooking for others. Stan was born creative and adventurous with a servant’s heart. His happiest moments were spent sharing his amazing creations and adventures with his loved ones. Most of all, Stan delighted in spending quality time with his grandchildren and strived to be the man he wanted them to become. Stan was born in Cissna Park, Illinois on January 5, 1949, to Arthur and Helen Zimmerman Bauer. He is survived by his wife, Janetta Carter, whom he married on February 26, 1977 in Clinton. He is also survived by his two daughters: Rachel Richert of Michigan and Ryanne (Jonathan) Shafer of Kigali, Rwanda; four grandchildren: Jett Richert, Reagan Richert, Trey Shafer, and Audrey Shafer; and two sisters: Joyce Whitten of Springfield, and Jeanice Young of Orlando, Florida. He was preceded in death by one brother, Glen Bauer. Stan was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Vietnam War. He worked many years for State Farm Insurance, retiring as a Director in Learning & Development. He was a member of East White Oak Bible Church in Carlock for more than twenty years where he served as, among other things, a Sunday School teacher. Stan and Janetta raised alpacas for many years and had a small business they ran together called Five Miles East, making clothing out of alpaca fiber. He loved Africa and supported various work in Sierra Leone and Rwanda. He was also a member of the Towanda Lions Club. Memorial contributions may be made to Love with Actions, a charity that serves severely disabled children in Rwanda.
