Shirley F. Spradlin

Shirley F. Spradlin, 74, of Springfield, formerly of Pana, died Monday, March 19, 2012 in St. John's Hospice, Springfield. She was born July 1, 1937 in Girard, IL, the daughter of William F. and Grace F. (Morris) Reynolds. Shirley lived in Pana from 1988-2009 before moving to Springfield. She had worked for Vogue Dress Shop in Springfield, was a playground aid for Rochester Schools, and was Activity Director at Falcon Lake State Park in Texas. Shirley loved the arts, gardening, camping, and home remodeling construction with her husband. She participated in the painting of the murals in downtown Pana, as well as the murals inside the Carnegie-Schuyler Library, Pana. Shirley was also involved in the Pana Hammer-In, Pana Days, and Pana Pioneer Heritage Guild, for whom she and her husband did demonstrations at Coal Creek Village. She was also a member of the Kingdom Hall, Springfield Pana Community Council for the Arts.
Shirley Reynolds married John Spradlin on November 26, 1952 in Jacksonville, IL. He survives in Springfield, along with their children John W. Spradlin wife Mary, Gilford, CT and Sally L. Pickett husband Steve, O'Fallon, IL; 3 grandchildren: John W. Spradlin wife Angela, Moodus, CT; Sarah M. Spradlin, East Haven, CT; Rachel L. Gotshall husband Bradley, O'Fallon, IL; 3 great grandchildren: Garrett W. Spradlin, Ella C. Spradlin, Dylin S. Spradlin; and brothers sisters: Marie Lowry, Decatur, IL; Muriel Shores, Las Vegas, NV; Virginia Patton, Frank Reynolds, Beverly Powell, all of Springfield, IL; and Velma Jeff, Twin Falls, ID. She was preceded by her parents; brothers sisters: Eleanor Pierce, Marjorie Alwardt, Regina Courtney; Carroll "Bud" Reynolds; Theoline Reynolds; David Reynolds.

After cremation, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
