Shelia Ann Karrick

Shelia Ann Karrick, 65, of Virden, IL, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. Shelia was born February 10, 1960, in Alton, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Ruth VanAusdall Young. She married Randy Karrick April 16, 1977, in rural Virden at the House of Prayer Church.

Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Randy Karrick of Virden, IL; their sons, Josh (Danielle) Karrick of Virden, IL, Isaac (Kristin) Karrick of Girard, IL, and Bradley Karrick of Virden, IL; their grandchildren, Taylor, Austin, Sierra, Aaron, Sarah, Skyler, Nevaeh, Emma-Jean, Ryan, Gracie, and Elizabeth Karrick; her siblings, Debbie (Andy) Gripp of Virden, IL, Janet (Bill) McCready of Virden, IL, Mike Young of Washington D.C., and Jeff (Michelle) Young of Wood River, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jacob Karrick; and two brothers, Joe and Allen Young.

Shelia was a lifelong member of Prairie Temple Assembly of God in Virden, IL. She was known to be funny and could always bring a smile to someone. She graduated from Virden High School. After graduation, she received her teaching degree and taught several years at North Mac School. She always looked forward to scrapbooking. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life. She will be dearly missed!

A Celebration of Shelia’s life will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Prairie Temple Assembly of God in Virden, IL. The family will receive friends for visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Graveside service will follow at Virden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Prairie Temple Assembly of God Church.
