Saundra "Sandy" Cheek

Saundra Sandy Cheek, 74, of Tower Hill, died Sunday, April 9, 2017 in Kindred Hospital, Chicago. She was born October 29, 1942 in Hamilton, AL, daughter of the late Arthur Calloway & Nova (Green) Ritch.

Sandy was a graduate of Pine Grove High School in Kentucky, and she also attended business school. She came from New Port, Kentucky in 1967, living in Oakwood, IL, then Champaign, IL before moving to Tower Hill in 1976. Sandy was a member of the Tower Hill Free Methodist Church, and most recently was involved in the new Free Methodist Church in Shelbyville. She was retired from International Paper.

Saundra Ritch and Odus T. Cheek were married on May 18, 1962 in Lawrenceburg, IN.

She is survived by her husband: Odus Cheek, Tower Hill, IL; daughter: Sherri M. Cheek Walsh & husband Michael, Chicago, IL; and 1 granddaughter: Chelsey Walsh, Chicago, IL. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Tyler Cheek; and brothers: Charles Alan Ritch & Ronald Curtis Ritch.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Ron Newman officiating. Private family graveside services will be held at Cheek Family Cemetery in Rose Hill, Virginia. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home.
