Ruth P. Steinhilber Obituary (1937

Ruth Priscilla (Carr) Steinhilber, 87, of Flanagan, IL passed away at 10:19 on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at her home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Minonk United Methodist Church with Rev. Will Meachum officiating. Burial will follow at Minonk Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be made to a local food pantry, the Flanagan/Graymont Ambulance Service, or to her church. Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Flanagan is assisting the family with services. Ruth was born on December 7, 1937, in Sayre, PA, the daughter of Harry and Sarah Sturdevant Carr. She grew up in Laceyville, PA area and graduated from Laceyville High School in 1955. She married Kenneth Steinhilber on January 14, 1967, in Minonk, IL. He died October 13, 2003. Also preceding her in death were her parents, one sister Frances, two brothers Harold and Robert, and her son Douglas. Surviving are four children Michael (Linda) Steinhilber of Jackson, MO, Patti (Jeff) Rients, and Daniel (Tammy) Steinhilber both of Flanagan, and Dennis (Janette) Steinhilber of Gardner; one sister-in-law Reggie Carr of Lexington Park, MD; she had fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was a member of the Minonk United Methodist Church. United Methodist Women, where she served many roles. Chief Pontiac Chapter NSDAR where she had been treasurer, and Chaplin. She worked at Nussbaum Trucking for more than 20 years and retired in 2000. And had various other jobs since then working well into her 80’s. Ruth enjoyed playing cards, Yahtzee, and bingo. She loved organizing and socializing with friends and family. Her greatest joy was being a mother and her family. She was always ready to help others and serve the Lord.
