Roselle Ann (Kessler) Bauer Obituary (1924

Roselle Ann (Kessler) Bauer, 92, of Decatur passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Fair Havens Christian Home. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1960 E. Johns Avenue, Decatur. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel, 4020 N. Water St. Decatur. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and daughter at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at Stewardson Cemetery following services at the church. Memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Alzheimers Association. Roselle was born on March 25, 1924 in Shelby County, IL, the daughter of Glen A. and Alice J. Kessler. She married Walter E. Bauer on November 22, 1945 in Stewardson, IL. At the beginning of her working career she was a schoolteacher in the Shelby County area but took a long break to raise her children. She then worked for and retired from St. Marys Hospital in Decatur, IL. She cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time outdoors in her yard. She also loved traveling and saw many beautiful places around the world. She was blessed to have wonderful neighbors and a loving church family for many years. She is survived by her children: Barry L. Bauer of Sullivan, IL, Rebecca J. Alexander and her husband Kurt of Decatur, IL and Beth Calhoun and her husband Michael of Smithville, MO; seven grandchildren: Diana Murray, Brian Bauer, Gregory Brodnicki, Laura Brodnicki, Tracie L. Wieder, James Calhoun and Casey Calhoun; several great-grandchildren; brother, Glen Kessler, Jr. of Shumway, IL and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: Robert Kessler and daughter: Barbara Ann.
