Ronald O. Kornewald

Ronald O. Kornewald 78, of Mt. Zion, IL passed away in his residence at 10:10 a.m., Sunday, October 16, 2016.

A service to celebrate Ron's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Decatur & Macon County Animal Shelter Foundation. Ron was born November 1, 1937, in Decatur, IL the son of Otto and Laura (Kaminski) Kornewald. He married Nancy Hord on September 29, 1967. Ron retired as a supervisor from AE Staley Manufacturing Company. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Ron enjoyed watching sporting events and NASCAR races on television. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan. Ron formerly bowled in many area leagues. He loved eating fried chicken and enjoyed tootsie-pops.

Surviving is his wife: Nancy of Mt. Zion; daughter: Tammey Grandon and her husband Kenneth of Decatur; step-sons: Rick Landgrebe and his wife Renee of Decatur and Eric Landgrebe and his wife Joyce of Decatur; step-daughter: Julie Landgrebe-Harmon and her husband Jerry of Lexington, SC; four grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, three great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren also survive.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, son: Ronald and daughter: Crystal.
