Ronald J. Cox Obituary (1931

Ronald J. Cox 92 of Pontiac, IL passed away at 4:10am Thursday March 21, 2024 at Goldwater Care of Pontiac. Due to his wishes he will be cremated with no visitation or funeral service held. A private family service will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery, rural Pontiac, IL. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac is handling the arrangements. Ron was born on April 28, 1931 in Warren, Ohio a son of W. Edward and Maurine (Carlson) Cox. He married Winnifred M. Kennedy on August 24, 1958. They were married for 65 years and Winnie survives in rural Pontiac, IL. Also surviving are his two daughters: Lynda (Todd) Kruger of Gridley, IL and Marsha (Steve) Kehres of Lake Zurich, IL; two grandsons: Scott and Brian Kehres of Chicago,IL; one sister: Claire (Gordon) Eichelberger of EL Paso, IL. Ron was preceded in death by his parents. Ron was educated in Graymont and Cornell schools and graduated from Cornell High School. He went on and served his country in the US Army (Tank Div) stationed in Korea. Upon returning home he began his farming life of 65 years working with his grandpa John Carlson and his father Edward. Due to health problems Ron finally had to retire completely at the age of 89. Ron is a member of First Lutheran Church in Pontiac, IL. Memorials in Ron’s name may be made to his church or Goldwater Care of Pontiac. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend who will be greatly missed by all.
