Robert A. "Bob" Wiechmann Obituary (1952 - 2024)

Robert A. Wiechmann, 71, of Flanagan, IL passed away at 6:50 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. Funeral services will be 11a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024, at St. Petri Lutheran church, Flanagan with Pastor Brian S. Moeller officiating. Burial will follow at St. Petri Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the church and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the church, the Flanagan American Legion, Pontiac Sportsman Club, or a charity of the donor’s choice. Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Flanagan is assisting the family with services. Robert was born August 2, 1952, in Pontiac, IL the son of Victor R. and Edith Jeanette Richardson Wiechmann. He married Lucille M. Bolen on March 25, 1983, at St. Petri Lutheran Church. They have been married 41 years. She survives along with three children Nathan R. Wiechmann, Elizabeth Alvey both of Flanagan, and Sarah (Gaberial) Flores of Bloomington; one brother Kenneth (Heidi) Wiechmann of Flanagan; one sister Kathleen (Chuck) Carroll of Graymont; four grandchildren Nova and Chevy Meiners, Roy and Lowell Alvey; and four step-grandchildren Angel, Ashley, Allison, and Alysa Flores. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bob was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church where he served on the council and served as chairman of the council and a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He graduated from Flanagan High School in 1970 and was in FFA and from Quincy Tech School. In high school he worked at the Gridley welding shop, where they made fire trucks. Bob was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting with his brother, son, and buddies. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and was a member of the Pontiac Sportsman’s Club since 1989. He farmed and worked as a mechanic at Yordy’s Chevrolet in Flanagan, then at Jones Buick in Pontiac, and later Sauder & Ripple Buick in Minonk, and Lynn Chevrolet in Pontiac. He also worked at SMF in Minonk and Vactor in Streator where he was known as farmer Bob. He was a member of the Livingston County Farm Bureau for 7 years. He also farmed with Don Donze after he retired in 2018. At Caseys he was known as mister Lotto. He also loved Car racing dirt track at Fairbury and Nascar. He loved spending time with family and friends and will be sadly missed.
