Robert A. Wick

Robert A. "Bob" Wick, 88 of Normal passed away at 8:43 AM on Thursday December 5, 2019 at his home.
There will be a funeral service for Bob at 11 AM Monday December 9, 2019 at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington. Reverend Ray Owens will officiate. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be 1 PM Tuesday December 10, 2019 at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin, IL.
Bob was born in Herrin, IL to Van Edward and Netta Oldani Wick where he grew up and attended the Methodist Church on Sunday mornings and the Free Methodist Church on Sunday and Wednesday evenings. He is survived by one son Robert Wick of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by one sister Rosalie Marie Guill and one son Dan Wick.
Bob had Polio at the early age of twenty after which he graduated first in his class from South Illinois University school of Machine Tool Technology, he moved to Bloomington to work for General Electric. He worked nearly forty years as a tool designer and retired in 1996. Bob was very skilled at building Mauser rifles, improving triggers and achieving great accuracy. One of his goals was to put three holes in as small a group as possible at 100 yards. He was also a Champion Trap Shooter and president of the GE Shooting Club. Bob used his mechanical ability to help many people.
Memorial contributions may be made to Polio Foundation or St Jude Children's Hospital.
