Robert L. "Bob" Hall Obituary (1944

Robert L. "Bob" Hall, 77, of Pana passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022 in Pana Community Hospital. He was born August 7, 1944 in Chicago, IL, to the late Virgil R. & Hazel (Lattz) Hall. Bob married Pauletta "Paulette" Jachino and they were married for 58 years. She survives in Pana, IL. Bob came to Pana with his parents & brother, John, in 1956 and graduated from Pana Senior High School in 1962 and attended Eastern Illinois University. He was an electrician with Firestone Tire & Rubber in Decatur, IL for 26 years, later working as an IBEW Local #481 in Indianapolis, IN, retiring in 2002. Bob had many different interests throughout his life. He was an avid reader, and that included being a member of the Pana Library board for many years. He was also a member of the Pana Lions Club and he enjoyed traveling, investing in the stock market and loved his many dogs, including Leo. Bob was a Cub fan and an avid bicyclist, riding across America from Seattle to Atlantic City and Seattle to Washington, D.C. in 1988 and 1991 respectively. He raced in the PBP race in France (Paris to Brest to Paris) in 1992 and 1996 respectively. He rode solo to Regina, Canada and throughout Saskatchewan & Alberta Provinces of Canada. Bob rode with his son, Larry, along the Appalachian Trail, BAMMI Rides, crisscrossing the state of Illinois & BAM (Bike Across America) rides, racing from St. Louis to Kansas City, MO and all around the state with his friends, Steve, John, Charlie & Kelsey. He deeply loved his children and grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Each one, at the age of two, Bob would take them to the library and inspire them to love reading. He loved watching his grandchildren excel in sports but emphasized the value of learning. He also taught them some small ways to get into trouble. He lived for as long as he could to be able to watch his grandchildren in all of their sports. He was the happiest when he was watching all of their sports & educational accomplishments. He lived for his grandchildren. Along with his wife, Bob is survived by his son, Robert L. "Larry" Hall, Peoria, IL; daughters: Jennifer (Dennis) Weedman, Edwardsville, IL and Stephanie (Matthew) Beyers, Shelbyville, IL; 6 grandchildren: Sydney L.E. Weedman & Jensen O. Weedman, Edwardsville, IL, Quincy N. Beyers (Tylr) Gottfriedt, Oceanside, CA, Carson E. Beyers, Maxwell S. Beyers & Owen S. Beyers, Shelbyville, IL; brother, John (Debbie) Hall; nieces & nephews: Deanna Hall, Scott (Meggie) Hall, Jackson, Trevor & Camden Hall, all of Fisher, IN and cousins from Momence, IL, Geneva, IL, Wyoming & Texas. Funeral services for Bob will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Rodney A. Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pana. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials in Bob's honor may be made to the Carnegie-Schuyler Library, Pana and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
