Robert Felton

Bloomington, Illinois

Robert E. Felton, age 73, passed away in the early morning hours on May 4, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories with family and friends.

Bob was born in Hannibal, MO to the late James T. Felton and late Lucille (nee Flowers) Felton. He was the middle child between his late older brother Jim Jr (Denise) Felton and late sister Melinda Felton. He was a proud graduate of the Oswego High School Class of 1970 and often talked of his years there with fondness, especially his wrestling days and all of the class reunions and parties.

Bob and his beloved wife Diane (nee Gross) married on September 24, 1977 and he had gained wonderful in-laws in the late Marge and Butch Gross.

They have 3 daughters. Katrina (Brandon) Fifer, Julia Felton, and Alicia (Drew) Frueh. He was also a proud and devoted Grandfather "Papa" to Tristan Fifer, Maggie Frueh, Morgan Fifer, Alanna Fifer, and Lucy Frueh, all of whom he loved dearly.

He is also survived by his dear friends and golf partners brother-in-law Raymond (Shari) Gross, and his sister-in-law Nanci (Rich) Gannon. Bob held a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephew: Jennifer (Randy) Schwartz, Melody Felton, Christopher (Erin) Gross and Jacqueline (Trevor) Garrettson, along with many great-nieces and great-nephews who brought him immense joy. Bob also loved to spend time on the golf course and hanging out at Don's Dynasty with dear friends Don and Sheri Schwieger.

Bob had a vibrant personality and never met a stranger. He was truly the life of the party and had a way of making everyone feel like family. We would like to remember all of the friends that shaped his, Diane's and his children's lives. He had a deep love for his family and passed down many of his favorite things, including Disney, music, playing cards, games and classic movies, to his children and grandchildren.

He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—whether it was a trip to Florida, a round of golf, making pancakes for all occasions (despite not eating them himself) or a peaceful day fishing. Days spent with his wife, daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren were his favorite, no matter the activity. He never turned down a chance to visit the bar or casino for a good time, especially if it involved playing the slots. He had a well-known love for McDonald’s fries and anything chocolate.

A passionate sports fan, Bob proudly cheered for Chicago teams, especially the White Sox, Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, and even the Cubs.

Above all, Bob will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and the memories he created.

If desired, donations can be made in his name to OSF Hospice or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
