Bob was born in Bloomington on December 5, 1937, to Robert Jacob and Beulah Louise Frink Chancellor. He married Edna McDaniel on September 23, 1956, in Ellsworth. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Robert “Ike” (Susan) Chancellor of Boerne, Texas, and Roger (Wendy) Chancellor of Oak Park, Illinois, four grandchildren, Lindsey (Alex) Dover, Kelley (Marc) Massaro, Ryan (Bridget) Chancellor, and Luke Chancellor, as well as one great grandchild, Sarah Dover.
Bob graduated from Ellsworth high school where he got his nickname "Chiz." When playing basketball, he would Chisel through the opponents to make shots. The name stuck, and he will forever be known as Uncle Chiz, or just Chiz to the family.
After high school he joined the U.S. Navy and completed a bachelor's and a master's degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University. He served 21 years retiring in 1977 as a Commander from the U.S. Navy.
Upon retiring from the U.S. Navy, he returned to his Illinois roots helping with the family business, The Prairie Lake Bargain Barn. Bob continued to learn and expend his knowledge, he attended Illinois State University and graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor's in accounting. Real Estate was his next endeavor helping others through the maze of selling and purchasing property.
For the last 20 years Bob ran a quilting business, Prairie Lake Quilters from his home with his wife. There were times he would be up to his head in quilts, and more were always coming. He truly enjoyed all the people he met and worked for in the quilting world. He was known around town as "Bob the quilter."
He will sincerely be missed and remembered by all who's lives he touched.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
