Rickie Reed Obituary (1951 - 2024)

Rickie Gene Reed, 72, of Pana passed away Monday, April 29, 2024 (at 8:59 a.m.) in his home. He was born May 27, 1951 in Shelbyville, IL to the late Dale A. “Lonnie” & Bette L. (Etheridge) Reed. He married Mary Davis and they later divorced. Rickie served in the U.S. Army from January 1970 until January 1976, and went on to work as a truck driver for McLeod, File’s & Zandy Gatewood. He enjoyed watching old westerns and eating at the Rosebud, sitting with his fellow truckers at the “BS” table. Rickie is survived by children: Lisa (Matt) Edwards, Pana, IL; Michael Pease, Centralia, IL; Matthew (Lilly) Reed, Sullivan, IL; Ricci Reed, Pana, IL; grandchildren: Shelby, Briahna, Carter, Alissa, Lila, Lucas, James, Madeline, Henry; and siblings: Michael Reed, Beecher City, IL and Vicki Mundy (Chester Allen), Gaffney, SC and many nieces & nephews. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Karen Karnes. The family will host a celebration of life service at a later date. Memorials in Rickie’s honor may be made to the donor’s choice and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family. www.mdfh.com
