Raymond W. "Ray" Murrell Obituary (1939 - 2023)

Raymond W. “Ray” Murrell, 84, of Gibson City, Illinois, formerly of Saybrook, Illinois, passed away at 10:05 A.M. Friday, December 15, 2023, at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. – 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Saybrook, Illinois. His funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Gary Fairchild officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Saybrook, Illinois. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Ray was born on August 8, 1939, in Arrowsmith, Illinois, a son of Woodson and Blanche McClelland Murrell. He married Barbara J. Denny on October 16, 1970, in Bloomington, Illinois. She passed away October 17, 2019. He is survived by his siblings, Betty Thomas, Jo Curry, John Murrell, Leonard (Iris) Murrell, and Bobby (Bea) Murrell; several nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Sue Bain. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; four sisters; and one brother. Ray retired from Country Companies, Bloomington, Illinois. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Gibson City, Illinois.
