Pranab Kumar Chanda Obituary (2023 - 2023)

Pranab Kumar Chanda "PK", of Normal, passed away at 7:04 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at his home in Normal. Pranab was born in Kolkata, India, son of Phoni Bhusan and Meera (Som) Chanda. He married Elizabeth Arnold on May 4, 1979. She survives. Also surviving are his three daughters, Ginny (Steven) Byers, Jessica (Charlie) Cunnick and Janey Chanda (Kara Wagner); four grandchildren, Ian, Theodore, Mena, and Frederick; two sisters, Pratima Guhu and Manjusri Sarkar and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. He worked for Gates Rubber Company for many years, retiring in 2002. PK was a very proud father of his three daughters. He was never happier than when he spent time and played with his grandkids. He spent his spare time in the backyard gardening and watching the Cubs and Bears on TV. PK was never shy and enjoyed striking up a conversation with anyone, whether it was a stranger at the store, new neighbors, or someone crossing the street. He visited home and family in India every year and would invite anyone he knew to do the same. Cremation rites have been accorded by Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington.
