O. Gerada Fonger Sperry, 95 of Normal passed away Monday December 23, 2019 at 11:45 PM at Meadows at Mercy Creek in Normal. There will be a funeral for Gerada at 11 AM Saturday December 28, 2019 at First Christian Church in Bloomington. Pastor Dustin Underwood will officiate. There will be a visitation from 9-11 AM at the church. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Leroy. Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington is handling arrangements. Gerada was born August 20, 1924 in Leroy to Rader and Gertrude Wilson Scott. She married Claire Fonger on April 10, 1944 in Chenoa. He preceded her in death January 8, 1993. She later married Daniel Sperry on August 1, 1998 in Bloomington. He survives. She is also survived by one son Mikel (Sherrita) Fonger of McLean, three grandchildren Judy (Jeff) Nevenner of Allen, TX, Mark (Meredith) Fonger of Gilbert, Arizona and Greg (Molly) Fonger of Minier, fiver great grandchildren, Matthew Ruhrup, Justin Fonger, Tyler Fonger, Christopher Ruhrup and Calvin Fonger, four step-children, Linda (Gary) Fillingham of Bloomington, Carol (Steve) Kant of Bloomington, Mark (Laurel) Sperry of Normal, Judy Kay (Mark) Hovren of Bloomington, eight step-grandchildren, Yale (Emily) Fillingham, Chase (Kari) Fillingham, Alexis (A.J.) Kant, Austin (Doug) Herring, Tyler (Emma) Sperry, Courtney Sperry, Emily (Dan) Breazeale and Sara Hovren, and eleven great-grandchildren, Rose Fillingham, Willa Fillingham, Hunter Fillingham, Kallen Fillingham, Aubrey Kalitzky, Jonah Kalitzky, Emerson Kalitzky, Kate Kalitzky, Trae Herring, Nash Herring and Connor Sperry. Along with her first husband Claire she was also preceded in death by one daughter Judy Ann Fonger, one great grandson Austin Mikel Fonger, one brother Sony Scott, and one sister Wanda Sandage. Gerada was a homemaker who worked many years on the family farm with her husband Claire. She could do anything he could do including driving the tractors and running the combine. She was a lady who always took pride in her appearance and will be remembered for her smile and laughter. She was a former member of Eastview Christian Church and more recently attended First Christian Church in Bloomington. She was also a member of the McLean County Farm Bureau. The family would like to say a special thank you to Judy Kay Hovren for her special care of Gerada as well as the entire staff at Meadows at Mercy Creek. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
