Normandie Dale Veronica Lyon Obituary (1953 - 2023)

Normandie Dale Veronica Lyon, 70, of Pontiac, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in Eaton, MI. Her services will be on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 12:00 pm at the Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac. There will also be a gathering at Bob & Ringo's in Pontiac after the service until 5:00 pm. The visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Normandie was born on July 19, 1953, in Evergreen Park to Everett Neil and Lorraine Edith (Burnett) Lyon. She married George Danhoff, they later divorced. She married Ron R. Gedeika, they also later divorced. She is survived by her daughter, Megan Lorraine Lyon of Pontiac, IL; sisters, Barbara Joan (Chuck) Gradowski of PA, Sue Lorraine Denny of WI, grandchildren, Ayden Karter Mankowski and Sadie Veronica Moreno. She is preceded in death by her parents. Normandie graduated from Stagg High School in 1971. She received her Associates in Corrosion Technology from Morraine Valley Community College. Normandie was employed with Enbridge for 10 years, retiring in 2016. She worked part-time for Hope Pregnancy Center. She also transported vehicles for Heller Ford out of El Paso. She belonged to the Church Home Group. Some of her nick names she received throughout the years were Stormin Norman, Norma Dean, Norma B, and Graham Cracker. Normandie grew up in the Chicago area and throughout her childhood she spent a lot of time in church, where she fell in love with singing in the choir and playing the piano. This love of worship music and piano playing carried on through her entire adult life. If you could have seen into her home on Sunday mornings when her daughter was a child or at random, she was often singing and playing the piano. Her friends can attest to this love as well, as they often heard her at work, merrily singing praises to the Lord. Normandie's work at Enbridge, was what brought her to the Pontiac community, where she worked until her retirement in 2016. After retirement, Normandie spent much of her time serving her community through her church outreaches and other community resources. She loved the women she worked alongside and those she served through the HOPE Pregnancy Center in Pontiac. When she wasn't serving or singing, Normandie loved staying busy with home projects. She at any given time had multiple projects going, from crafting, baking banana bread, gardening, or repurposing an old item to look new. She also loved driving and would offer a ride to anyone in need if she could. Her latest hobby was refining her pottery skills at the Art Center here in Pontiac. She was an avid reader and a newspaper crossword puzzle player. Normandie never shied away from a challenge. She asked questions and wasn't afraid to seek out answers if needed. While Normandie had many talents and responsibilities even in retirement, nothing got in the way of her relationship with her family, the biggest loves of her life; her daughter, Megan, and 2 grandchildren, Ayden and Sadie.
