Norma Mae Skiles

Norma Mae Skiles, 87 of Girard, passed away peacefully, January 1, 2025 at her home. She was born on January 12, 1937 in Springfield. Daughter of Lloyd Bassett and Fannie Ethel Inyart Guthrie. She married James Richard Meade September 12, 1959 and he preceded her death June 25, 1975. She married James Skiles on September 15, 1979 in Virden and he preceded her in death on April 26, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Dorothy Cox Lechner, Frances Cox Forrester, Delores Cox Damm, Barbara Cox, Bill Cox, Kenneth Cox, Johnnie Cox, & Robert (Bobby) Cox.

She is survived by her 2 children: Penne Dunn of Girard and Terry Meade McClelland of Auburn, grandson Scott McClelland of Auburn, and great grandson Jason McClelland of Auburn along with several nieces, nephews, & cousins.

Norma was a longtime hairdresser. She also worked at Mar Vista Homes for many years. She enjoyed reading books, flowers, camping, & spending time with family. She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church of Virden. She loved her church and church family. She was very active in church activities until her health no longer permitted it.

In keeping with Norma's wishes, cremation rites were accorded, and no services are planned at this time.
