Nelda E. Bevill

Morton:
Nelda Elaine Bevill, 94, of Morton and formerly of Washburn, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 2:15 am at her home in Morton.
Visitation will be Saturday November 7, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Washburn United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 pm. Graveside services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm at Glendale Cemetery, Fillmore, IL. Memorial contributions may be directed to Glendale Cemetery, P.O. Box 136 Fillmore, IL 62032, or to the Washburn American Legion Auxiliary. Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home, Washburn is in charge of arrangements.
Nelda was born August 21, 1932, in Fillmore, IL to Ira Newton and Lyda Leona (Smith) Griggs. She married Carl E. Bevill on September 6, 1953, in Fillmore. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2010.
Surviving are her children, Thomas A. (Suzan) Bevill, of Morton, Susan Bevill, Dr. Robert S. (Lyn) Bevill, both of Peoria, Brian C. (Mindi) Bevill, of Mapleton, and Sally L. (Doug) Lane, of Troy, MO., fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and one sister, Caroline Lovelace, of Hillsboro.
Her parents and four brothers, Charles, Marion, Kenneth and Lowell, two sisters, Leta and Margie, and one grandson, Ryan Bevill, preceded her in death.
Nelda received her nursing degree, becoming a registered nurse. She worked for over 32 years at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria in the infection control department.
She was a devoted member of the Washburn United Methodist Church, where she served as choir director and pianist.
Nelda was a member of the Washburn American Legion Auxiliary and the Methodist Medical Center retirees club.
Nelda was a very accomplished pianist, playing for her church, many weddings, funerals, senior citizens gatherings or wherever she could provide music. This gift of music was passed onto her family.
