Nelda Ann McNicol

Nelda Ann McNicol 93, of Tolono, IL formerly of Mt Zion, IL passed away at 7:20 Saturday, February 21, 2026, in Memory Haven, Tolono, IL.

A funeral service will be held to honor Nelda’s life at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Elwin United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Decatur. Calvert & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family with services. Memorials may be made to Memory Haven. Messages of condolence may be shared with the family at Calvertmemorial.com.

Nelda was born September 4, 1932, in Decatur, IL the daughter of Harold and Edna (Thrasher) Cassell. She married James William “Bill” McNicol on February 18, 1950. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2012. Nelda had retired as a bookkeeper from Millikin University. She was a member of the Elwin United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her daughters: Marcia Beyer of Normal, IL and Mari Lyn Quick (Don) of Bement, IL; sister-in-law: Barb Cassell of Forsyth, IL; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Nelda was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son: Mark McNicol (Carol), and her brother: Kent Cassell.
