Nathan Baden

–

Bloomington, Illinois

Nathan Baden died peacefully on May 20, 2018 surrounded by his family at his home in Westhampton, NY. He was 78.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Karen (Barnett); sons Howard and Matthew (Teresa); and sister Dorothy Lee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian Rubin Baden and Hyman Baden of New York.

A beloved member of a large extended family, Nathan was a dear son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle and great-uncle.

Nathan was born in New York City on May 16, 1940. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1962 and received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1965. He taught his children the importance of empathy, fairness, and curiosity in the world around them. His sons will remember him as a hard working, generous father who gave to them unselfishly and encouraged them to pursue their goals.

Nathan was a quintessential, life-long New Yorker: educated, well-informed, opinionated, and always eager to engage in conversation with friends and strangers alike. The excitement of New York was not lost on him: he was always up for an adventure and always interested in the paths that led others to New York. He was kind and generous to family, friends and strangers.

A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the Jewish Cemetery in Bloomington, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Prostate Cancer Foundation at http://www.pcf.org would be greatly appreciated.
