Nancy Lee Madden

–

Macon, Illinois

Nancy Lee Madden, 61, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. She was born June 15, 1955 in Decatur, Illinois and was the third daughter of Peggy and Bill Madden. She was preceded in death by her father and older sister, Betty. As a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School and Millikin University, she remained good friends with several from her school days and made many more friends over the years.

Nancy adored children and all animals. She regularly befriended dogs and took excellent care of them while their owners were away. Her creative energy and loving spirit was beloved by so many who knew her. On any given day, she would feed the neighborhood cats, take in a neighbors mail, walk anothers dog, and pick out a special gift that would delight a sibling, niece or nephew. She was curious about everything and in particular, knew a myriad of specific names of flowers, animals, and food. We all loved her affectionate spirit, her unbridled zest for life, and her love of nature. She will be dearly missed by all.

Nancy is survived by her mother, Peggy Madden and Peggys husband Richard Phillips, her siblings Leslie and husband Bill Penn, Scott and wife Lisa Madden, Sally Betscher, Wendy and husband Chris Burke, Amy and husband John Lazzaretto, Jeff and wife Elizabeth Madden, countless nieces and nephews, grand nephews and nieces, and her beloved poodle companion, Dino, who stayed right next to her throughout.

Her family would like to express our sincere appreciation for Dr. Mario Velasco and the wonderfully supportive team at the Cancer Care Center. Their ongoing care, empathy, and support made all the difference in the world to Nancy and her family during a difficult year.

Memorials may be made on her behalf to the Macon County Animal Control and Care Center at 2820 E. Parkway Drive, Decatur, Illinois 62526.
