Nancy J. Semingson

Nancy J. Semingson, 73 of Bloomington, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Nancy was born on December 9, 1952, Normal, Illinois, a daughter of Ferdinand F. and Margaret R. (Downs) Render.

She is survived by her children: Bruce Semingson, Canton and Shelly Semingson, Bloomington. Also surviving is her grandchildren: Riley and Caleb Semingson and Scarlet Lowery; her sisters and brother: Mary Lou (Dan) Hill, Gibson City; Fred (Janet) Render, Downs and Ruth Ann (Lee) Render Erickson Mackinaw along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents and her son: Brian Semingson.

Nancy graduated from Bloomington High School and attended ISU. She went to work at State Farm and retired after 20+ years in 2018. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Lexington.

Nancy had a wonderful voice and enjoyed singing in the church, especially with the Sunday school children and would also be asked to sing at weddings. Besides her beautiful voice she was a wonderful cook. She was known for her fabulous fried chicken and her delicious Apple Pies.

Most of all she loved making people laugh and has been known as the “Joy Giver”. Her favorite saying was “Let’s find your Joy”.

Nancy truly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 12-2pm at St. John’s Lutheran church with a celebration of life service following at 2pm. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family service and burial will be held at a later date.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Home Sweet Home Mission, Salvation Army or St. John’s Lutheran Church.
